McCallums Group’s ongoing commitment to the environment and its sustainable choices have earned it national recognition for the fourth consecutive year.
The laundry and commercial dry-cleaning business was presented with national awards for the Lowest Standardised CO2 Emissions in the Apparelmaster Group, and the Lowest CO2 Emissions, both in the Large Facility Category, at the Apparelmaster New Zealand Group Conference in Auckland.
McCallums Group has long been an advocate for the environment.
In recent years it has made several major moves to reduce its carbon footprint, including switching from LPG to a more environmentally friendly Wood Waste fuel source, along with a number of smaller changes including installing Smarttrack into its delivery vehicle so it can monitor and reduce time idling.
The moves have all combined to ensure the Invercargill business is leading the way nationally. This year McCallums Group also earned the Gold Certification in the Instep Carbon and Sustainability programme.
MCallums Group owner Wayne McCallum said the business looked to make environmentally friendly choices wherever possible.
“McCallums always strives for the most sustainable option,” he said.
“Being locally owned and operated means we can make these decisions and changes easily, for instance moving to a wood chip boiler. We know, as a laundry business, our operations can impact the environment so we take every step to ensure we operate in an environmentally conscious and sustainable way.”
